Please note: updated time of 7.30pm!
Wednesday 8th June – Law Building 301, UNSW – 7.30pm
Oliver and I will be running a navigation night in preparation for the upcoming Paddy Pallin Rogaine that’s taking place on the 19th June.
The focus of the session will be route planning and key navigation skills in the context of Rogaining. Some light reading to give you an idea of what we’ll be covering can be found on the following website: https://nswrogaining.org/AboutRogaining/Novices/WhatSkills.htm
We’ll meet in the Law Building, room 301 at 6pm and will spend some time going through what Rogaining is all about, covering some useful tips and tricks. We will then go outside and measure everyone’s pacing for 100m (i.e. how many steps it takes for you to walk 100m), I’ll explain why that’s useful to know, and if there’s time we’ll practice some bearings, with the use of a compass.
You will need:
- Warm clothes (essential)
Please also bring the following if you can:
- Compass
- Headtorch
Hope to see you on Wednesday night, all welcome!
P.S. Don’t forget to sign up here for the Paddy Pallin Rogaine (taking place on the 19th June) by Friday 10th June at the latest!
