Gabe and I (Raine) will be running a multi-pitch climbing trip at the Slab Wall at Mt Gibraltar, particularly looking at The Very Easy Routes but activities on the day will be dependent on a lot of factors. I hope you enjoyed the photo of Gabe on Smegadeath (not Mt Gilbraltar).

Signing up for this event means you are commiting to a mandatory session about anchors and rope management at the Ledge on May 1st. If you do not show up you will not be let on the trip. Do not sign up unless you can make it. Put the name of a fun 18 you enjoyed recently in the comments.

Skills Requirements:

  • Consistently onsight an outdoor 18 on lead, and comfortable cleaning anchors
  • Self-sufficient rappelling with an ATC and third-hand

Gear Requirements:

  • Personal gear: Harness, shoes (you’ll want these to be comfortable for longer periods), chalk bag
  • Climbing Helmet
  • ATC Guide
  • Personal Safety and locking carabiners
  • Prusik

Additional Necessities:

  • >2L Water (a camelpak can be so nice)
  • Sunscreen
  • Food for the day
  • Weather appropriate clothing
  • Day bag to fit all your additional necessities

We would love to try to teach people some skills to progress them on their journey towards multipitch, but will be dependent on the signups and the day. This trip will also not magically certify you to go become the next victim on BBB. Please include in the comments your climbing ability and reaffirm any medical conditions you have as these may need to be managed differently on the wall. We will be carpooling as usual, so don’t stress too much about not having a car.
