Pack shakedowns and an intro to cold soaking!
Is your pack always ten times larger than everyone else’s? Do you want to make those pesky uphills easier? Does organizing food for a trip always seem ultra daunting? Well if that’s you, I’m going to give you a hand lightening the load without investing heaps of money in expensive ultralight gear, or spending time dehydrating food!
The plan is to meet in the UNSW library room 406 on Sunday at 6pm. Feel free to bring your usual pack and gear or simply a gear list of what you usually take. I’ll give everyone who does this a brief shakedown to lighten your load.
I’ll also be going through what cold soaking is, what you can and can’t soak, how long to soak things for and what you can use for cold soaking. If you don’t know what I am talking about right now, just get ready for a world where you are never out of gas, never have to sit and cook your meal when you are tired at the end of a long day, and a world where you don’t have to do dishes!
Finally I’ll hand out a bunch recipies of easy cheap meals you can throw together in a pinch if you feel like indulging in some hot food.
I don’t expect it should take longer than an hour, but if we have more than a handful of people show up, it might take up to 2 hours.
Hope to see you there!
