This week at the Ledge we will be working on lowering systems! You may have seen trip leaders setting up fancy knots at abseil anchors or wondered how to lower someone on a multi-pitch climb. We will go through how to set up a munter mule contingency anchor that allows you to lower an abseiler from the top if they get stuck halfway down, and how to lower someone when belaying from above with a top-belay. If we have time hopefully we can also discuss alternative releasable abseiling setups, and the benefits and disadvantages of each.

If you have any questions, send me a message (I’m Stephen btw)

What you need:

I’ll bring any gear we’ll need from the gear cupboard, just bring a harness or borrow one from the UNSWOC box at the ledge. If you have any preferred abseiling/belaying device you like using bring those too.
