This week at the ledge we’re working on anchor building and top belaying! We will go through a few common types of anchor systems and what gear you will need to build an anchor outdoors. There are many variables in anchor building, making it almost impossible to show how to construct an anchor for every scenario. The goal of this workshop is to give you an understanding of the principles of anchor building while showing a few common ways to construct an anchor system.

For most sport climbs, you will be belaying form the bottom, just like at the Ledge or st peters. However, if you are getting serious about outdoor climbing, multi-pitching will most definitely be part of the equation. Top belaying is an integral part of multi-pitching which allows you to belay a climber at the top of the climb.

If you are keen to go outdoors and have an adventure, come to this workshop and learn how to be a self-sufficient climber! c: If you have any questions, slide in my dm c: (I’m Jeffrey btw)
