G’day Legends,
This trip is only for people with some whitewater kayaking experience. If we haven’t paddled together, please message me on facebook, or send an email.
This long weekend we are having a follow up trip to continue learning how to whitewater kayak. In April we learnt the basics and had a few chilly swims, now we are going to practice those basics, and hopefully have less (or no) chilly swims. What do you prefer, chilly bins (chilly drinks) or chilly swims (filled with chilly whims…lol idk)? Below is some information about the trip but we’ll discuss more in a groupchat on whatsapp.
Location and River:
Barrington River, Barrington
The Plan:
Thursday: go to tramshed during/after gear hours to collect boats and gear for everyone. Please attend so I can choose you a boat and gear (exact time TBC with gear officers)
Saturday: drive up in the AM and get a cracking start on the river. Paddle Rawdon Vale to Bindera. Eat dinner at pub
Sunday: Paddle Bindera to the Cove (or rocky crossing)
Monday: Choose which section we want to paddle… and paddle that
You are free to miss a day if you have other commitments… I’ll only judge you silently (you know who you are)
What you need to bring
- Camping gear (tent, sleeping bag, mat etc.)
- Food for all the days
- Wetsuit or dry top or dry suit (it will be cold in the water) This is compulsory. You won’t be paddling without sufficient warmth
- Sturdy shoes with good grip – I like volleys because they are low volume, other people wear canyoning shoes or sneakers
- Neoprene or woolen socks
- Thermals – for extra warmth under a wetsuit or after a paddle
- Dry bag/s (20L in any combination is probably good)
- Warm clothes for after the paddle (we often stand around waiting for shuttle)
- fleece, puffer, etc
What will be provided by the club
- Boats
- paddles
- helmets
- PFDs
Please Put your phone number in your signup comment so I can add you to a whatsapp group for this trip.
See you on the river.
