Come join us (Katie, Jayden and Lloyd) for an overnight hike up on Mount Solitary next weekend!
Photo cred: David Noble
Weโll be leaving from the Blueys Saturday morning and coming out Sunday arvo. As Jayden now lives in the Blueys and I am in the Northern Beaches weโll need help with driving people up and back.
This is the hike weโll be doing, weโll be doing from Scenic Railway to Mt Solitary and return from there.ย (Weโll be making camp on the top of Mount Solitary at Singa-Jingawell campsite, so itโll potentially be windy and cold)!
Itโs not a massively long hike (about 27km total) but Good fitnessย andย overnight hiking experienceย are required as we will be covering pretty rugged terrain and there is no visible track in places.ย This means if you have any recent (past few months) injuries or niggles please let us know.
In the comments please let me knowย what hikes youโve done, why youโre keen for this hike, and what your favourite trail snack is. Also let us know if you have a car and where you are based as weโll need some extras.
Youโll need:
- Hiking pack
- Tent (or someone to share with)
- Sleeping bag & mat
- Food for two days โ donโt forget lots of hiking snacks to share with your grateful trip leaders
- WATER (bring at least 4L, as weโre in drought so no guarantee of anywhere to fill up)
- Warm clothes (thermals are essential, itโs might be sub-zero overnight)
- Comfortable shoes (these should be hiking boots or trail runners only!
- Stove! There have been lots of recent fire warnings so donโt expect a camp fire to cook your food
- Headtorch
- Toiletries etc. – this includes TP and the dreaded pooper scooper (for digging holes)
- Sunblock
If youโre missing any gear please comment on it as we may have to send you to the gear shed for it.
Thanks to Stephen Roche for the template.
P.S. Seriously, answer the questions in the comments.
