Do you like waking up to sunrises on mountain tops? Do you like large blisters on your feet and bruises on your hips from carrying heavy packs? You can enjoy the best of both these experiences next weekend in the Blue Mountains. We will walk from Katoomba to Wentworth Falls via the Ruined Castle, and camp on Mount Solitary on saturday night. Wildwalks: Katoomba to Wentworth Falls via the Jamison Valley

Expect an early saturday morning departure and late sunday return. If you have a car and would like to drive – let us know! Otherwise, it is easy to get the train (there are stations at both Katoomba and Wentworth Falls) and we will organise a time for us all to go.

Things you need:

  • Hiking pack
  • Tent
  • Sleeping bag (it could get down to ~0 degrees at night so make sure it is quite warm!)
  • Sleeping mat
  • Headtorch
  • 10L water 5L water
  • Food for 2 days
  • Warm clothes
  • Rain jacket
  • one bar of minimum 70% cocoa dark chocolate (optional)

You can borrow the first 4 items on the list from gear cupboard on wednesday night (bring a $10 deposit).

This hike is moderately challenging, and will require a medium amount of walking endurance as well as rock scrambling ability. Please message one of us (Hanna Jayne or Mac Labine-Romain) on facebook to let us know your previous hiking experience if you’d like to join us! (:
