On Saturday Vicky and I (Dion) will be running a trip through Tiger Snake Canyon in Newnes State Forest! It looks really beautiful and a few very cool abseils in it so I’ve been told. Crucially, it’s a Dry Canyon so you might get wet feet but won’t need a wetsuit. We’ll be running in conjuction with the UTS and USYD clubs so its a good op to meet some other people in the outdoorsy community.
You will need to borrow the following from the gear cupboard the previous Wednesday:
– Harness
– Helmet
– Belay Plate
– 2 x Carabiners
– Safety Sling
Also:
– Food & Water for the day
– Petrol Money
– Woolen or Synthetic Socks (Buy some or source some)
– Volleys (Or grippy shoes that will drain of water)
– Some spare clothes to leave in the car in case you get wet
– HEAD TORCH
– Defs a raincoat
And a small backpack to hold all these things
The plan is to drive up Saturday morning and back the same day.
There will be abseiling so experience is strongly recommended. We expect to get in the canyon at around 1030 and out just before sunset. The plan will go ahead unless its a really bad storm, though the forecast isn’t too positive as yet. If you’re going to the interclub event in the megalong, let me know and we’ll discuss transport with the other clubs
Cheers folks!
P.S. We haven’t done this canyon before and are prone to getting temporarily misplaced
