Izzy and I are heading to Glen Davis for canyoning this Sunday. We are aiming to do Coin Slot followed by Wowsers (time permitting). These are good quality canyons, relatively dry, and have many abseils.

This is an advanced level canyoning trip. You need to supply all your own gear (or borrow from the club), and be self sufficient at abseiling. For me, ‘self sufficient’ means you are capable of abseiling without supervision, without a belay, and relatively quickly (takes less than 5 minutes to clip in, do your checks, and get to the bottom of a 30m abseil). We will be using a combination of single, double and twin rope riggings. The entry path involves easy rock climbing (about grade 10).

Trip cap is 3 people if there is one car, or 6 people if there are two cars. Let me know if you are able to drive.

Since we are trying to fit 2 canyons into a day, we will be staying at Coorongooba Campground (free camping) on Saturday night, and starting early (leave campsite at dawn on Sunday).

Since these canyons are relatively dry, thermals and a jacket (raincoat, windstopper, softshell, etc) should be enough to keep you warm. If someone is able to borrow ropes from the locker, that would be great (I can’t make gear nights).

Let me know if you have any questions!
