On SUNDAY 8th, a bunch of us will go climbing together at a crag TBA (weather dependent, we will agree on the crags later, but they will be cool crags 😛 ), probably in the Blueys. It will be awesome to share a day with all the female climbers from our club and have fun and get strong together, so make sure you sign up!

  • Please note this is a self-sufficient trip. You’re expected to organize your own climbing gear, be a self-sufficient climber, and bring your food, water, camping gear, etc.
  • HOWEVER, we are also happy to take you on board if you’re still learning or if you prefer a top rope set up. If that’s the case, please message me (Maria LC) on facebook and we will arrange it. For all the experienced climbers, let’s all help those newbies out! We will sort transport out in the facebook chat. Beginner or experience, we will have fun and learn from each other 🙂

Why do we organize an annual girls climbing trip?: It is important that we get this right. The UNSWOC encourages everyone from any gender/nationality/religion/background/etc to join the club, go on trips together, climb together, make best friends, and have fun in the outdoors. However, it is important we also acknowledge that this equal participation and support in sports has not always been like this, especially for women. Some quick data, the first modern Olympic Games were held in 1896 (Athens). However, the first time women were allowed to participate in the Olympic Games was in 1900 (Paris). And the first time women competed in every sport was in 2012 (London). This means that women (like Alice Milliat, in the photo!) had to fight for their right to practice sports and compete for a long time, unlike men. Even nowadays, there are still countries that discriminate against women in sports. This trip is organised because we don’t take our rights for granted and to thank every woman and man who fight for equal rights. And because we love climbing!
