Sunday of Boree Log; a time of much regret at your abilities to gauge how many standard drinks are in the Punch of Punishment. But fear not! Nathan and I are your salvation.
We’ll be taking you down Wollangambe Canyon #2, Basically this trip involves walking down a big hill, blowing up a mattress and floating down the river, then getting out and walking back up a big hill (with some scrambling over rocks where there is not enough water to swim. So while it’s a cruisy day a relatively good level of fitness is still required and being able to swim is a MUST.
You will need to bring:
- Lunch
- Water (I recommend at least 2L)
- A drybag (these cost about $12, from Kathmandu/ Anaconda/ Macpac / the internet), I’d recommend 15L – 20L if your interested in getting into canyoning, but any size is fine. It’s just to keep your clothes and lunch dry, and maybe camera
- A backpack, around 25L in capacity
- A wetsuit (you can borrow one from the club)
- Board Shorts to wear over your wetsuit (to protect the wetsuit)
- A helmet (the club has these)
- Well gripping enclosed shoes (I’m looking at you people thinking about wearing thongs), e.g. old running shoes or sneakers. Note: these will get extremely dirty and damaged
- Wool or synthetic socks (your feet will get cold in cotton socks)
- Thermals, wool or synthetic to wear under your wetsuit, if you’re the kind of person who gets cold easily
- A lilo (the club has these but be warned, you are somewhat likely to get a surprise deflation, hence being able to swim is very important)
