THIS IS A FULL TRIP

A party of 8 UNSWOC members (one of which is a royal Botanical gardens staff with a collection licence) are headed out on an overnight canyoning trip in the Wollangambe wilderness to collect samples of an endangered plant.

We are heading out from Mt Wilson, walking down to the ‘gambe, going up the ridge on the other side and over into the next creek system. We will spend Saturday afternoon exploring some canyons in the area, camp in a cave on Saturday night and go plant collecting on Sunday.

The plant we are after is Haloragodendron gibsonsii, which may or may not be the same species as Hal. Lucasii. The botanical garden intend to sequence the plants genome to find out.
