Hey everyone!
If you enjoyed or missed out on this year’s previous film nights, get keen for another! Climbing Film Tour is back this year and we’re lucky enough to get discounted tickets. Expect some very cool short films about climbing (who would’ve guessed!?) and the climbing community. Check out the trailer here!
If you’re free and feeling social before the show, we’ll grab dinner at around 5:30 at the Regent Hotel (near uni) and would love to everyone to come along. If not, the film starts at 7pm and you can just meet us there. Sign up on this post and I’ll add you to a messenger chat where I’ll share the code for the discounted tickets. No need to put a comment for this one, but if you want to you can tell me the best outdoors-related documentary you’ve ever seen ๐
Donโt worry if you donโt know anyone else going. Weโd love to have as many people join us as possible and itโs always good to meet some more fellow outdoors enthusiasts. Just sign up and weโll all meet up before we head in. If you have any questions or concerns (or just want to say hi!), don’t hesitate to reach out to me (Callum) on messenger (link to my profile here) or via email at events@unswoc.org. Feel free to bring other friends along too. Itโs sure to be a great night!
About the Films:
LES PASSAGERS DU VIDE AND THE TREASURE OF THE ARAVIS GATE: six highliners stretch a 200-metre line above the alpine village of La Giettโ. What begins as a hunt for a mythical treasure becomes a breathtaking meditation on balance, fear, and friendship.
CLIMB TOGETHER:ย in Khon Kaen, Thailand, โOโ Hongliam and an international crew turn local cliffs into a sustainable climbing destination. Their work proves that opening routes can also open minds and strengthen communities.
BEAUTY IN A FALL: Canadian mountain guide Julianna Howatt confronts trauma and identity after a life-changing accident. Her journey redefines what strength and authenticity look like in the mountains.
LA RUBIA: burned out from years on Big Walls, Bronwyn Hodgins takes on La Rubia (5.14c / 8c+) in Spain. This all-female film captures the mental and physical intensity of chasing progress โ and the grounding power of friendship.
FIRST RUSH: after surviving a lightning strike, Marina confronts her fear head-on through sea cliff climbing. Her story is a raw exploration of vulnerability, courage, and rediscovering purpose.
