Hey my fellow fearless explorers!
Blair and me are running a beginners canyon trip to another part of Bowens creek (south upper) this saturday!
This canyon is not too technical and only involves 1-2 abseils so beginners are welcome. However, there will be a steep ascent with even a little climbing at the end and some tricky down scrambling in the canyon!
Otherwise there will be a lot of amazing scenery, small jumps and slides -so much fun!
We will leave Sydney very early Saturday morning (around 6am) and will be back in the evening after a day of adventure. Depending on cars there is also the option to camp friday night at mt wilson camp ground.
At the moment we will need at least one other driver so please contact either me (Steffi Quijote on fb) or Blair (Blair Harkness) and you will get priority.
Also, the weather forecast seems ok for this weekend, but after all the heavy rain lately we will be cautious and keep an eye on it – so running pending on weather.

The explorer equipment 101 (*= can be hire from the club):
- wetsuit*
- drybag (very advisable to get your own so that you have something to keep your lunch, camera and dry clothes DRY – a waterproof back pack will NOT be enough)
- lunch + snacks (eps for your favorite trip leaders ;))
- harness*
- atc + biner*
- sling + biner*
- helmet*
- wool or synthetic socks (not cotton)
- cheap shoes that you dont mind to get wet or a bit ruined (if you dont have some, head to target, big W,… and buy some cheap volleys or runners)
- (thermals for under your wetsuit if you get cold easily)
- (rainjacket for over the wetsuit if its a bit of a cold day)
- backpack that can get wet to carry your stuff
- spare set of thermals for emergencies
- flip flops for the ride back
- towel and change of clothes to change into when we get back to the car
- headtorch
- waterproof camera
