Hey everyone!

Boree Log, the most highly anticipated event in the club calendar, is right around the corner!! For anyone who hasnโ€™t been to a previous Boree Log, get ready a weekend of camping, partying, and outdoors fun!ย

This term Boree Log will be held at Cathedral Reserve Campground in Mount Wilson, and our theme is ‘Welcome to the circus’. It’s everyone’sย favourite time of year; the circus is in town!! From lions to clowns to sword swallowers and more, prepare to entertain the flocking masses, we want YOU to dress up as your favourite Circus attraction.ย

Anyone who dresses up gets dinner first on Saturday Nightย  AND The Best Costume gets a Prize (ooooh)

Itinerary:

Friday 17th of October

  • Most people arrive on Friday evening – make sure you get there with enough light to set up your tent!
  • We will be running social activities from 5pm onwards including frisbee, slackline, and other games (feel free to bing your own)
  • You will need to sort out your own dinner for Friday night, we suggest organising meals with friends to make things a bit easier

Saturday 18th of October

  • Everyone will split into smaller groups for trips! The trips leave early so itโ€™s best to drive up Friday night
  • In the arvo we will all return to the campground and everyone will get into their costumes for the evening activities
  • Over the course of the afternoon there will be various circus activities available at the campsite (gift of the late great Circsoc)
  • We will provide you with a delicious dinner cooked by our Head Chef Hammy (let us know your dietary requirements in the comments)
  • People who are dressed up get to eat first!
  • Following dinner we will be awarding the prize for best dressed and carrying out the beloved club tradition, Punch of Punishment where you can nominate your friends who have done something silly or stupid on outdoor trips to drink from the Punch (doesn’t have to be with the club) using this form.

Sund19th of October

  • Pack up and clean up the campground before splitting up again for more trips
  • Everyone will be heading straight back to Sydney from their trips so donโ€™t leave anything at the campground

Signing Up:

Make sure you check what time sign ups open for both the main event and individual trips! Spots are limited and in high demand so make sure you get in quick! It is first come first serve

  1. Main event sign ups open Monday the 29th of September at 7am! Make sure you are logged into the website or you wonโ€™t be able to request a spot
  2. In your sign up request, make sure to tell us if you have a car, how many people you can take and where from, and any dietary requirementsย
  3. WAIT FOR APPROVAL! All main event approvals will be finalised by Friday the 3rd of October
  4. Once you have been approved to the main event, request to sign up to ONE Saturday trip and ONE Sunday trip only (If you apply to multiple you WILL be rejected).
Information on individual day trips will be released on
Saturday the 4th of October. Sign ups for these will open Monday the 6th of October at 7am!ย
  5. Individual Trip signups will be approved by Friday the 10th of October
  6. Organise car pooling via the shared Google sheet (to be linked once attendees are confirmed) โ€“ find someone driving from near you and message them to ask if they have a spot for you. Fill out the Google sheet once you have a spot and bring some cash on the day to reimburse them for petrol
  7. Go shopping for the gear the club does not provide (more details on this below, including tents, sleeping bags, mats, drinking water, food, head torches etc)ย
  8. Get excited โ€˜cos youโ€™re about to go away for the best weekend!!!!

What to Bring?

  • Food and Water โ€“There is NO drinking water at the campground so bring your own! Ensure you have a water container that can carry at least 2L for your day trips! It can get quite hot during the day. We will only be providing dinner on Saturday night, you will need to provide your own food for all other meals. There is also no power so bring a camping cooker or food that doesnโ€™t need to be cooked
  • Tent โ€“ If you have your own tent, please bring it. The club has a very limited number of tents that can be borrowed from the gear cupboard, these are first come first served.
  • Sleeping Bag and Sleeping Mat โ€“ These are a necessity as it will be chilly, these are both available from the gear cupboard if you don’t have your own but get in quick.
  • WARM CLOTHES โ€“ Weโ€™re hoping for warm weather and clear skies, please be prepared for cold nights and rain if need be!
  • All Technical Equipment (e.g. harnesses, rope, helmets) will be provided by the club at Boree Log for those who donโ€™t have their own. You do not borrow this gear from the gear cupboard beforehand.
  • If you are canyoning, bring your own wetsuit if you have one (though the club does have ones that can be borrowed), also bring thermals as it will be particularly cold in canyons!
  • Check this packing list if you are unsure what else to bring.
  • Personal items (e.g. toiletries, face mask, head torches, rain jackets, day pack, personal first aid kits, SUNSCREEN, cutlery, plate/bowl, water bottle, alcohol for Saturday night if you want)
  • If youโ€™ve read all the info up to here, thank you. In your comment, tell me what your favourite circus act is (it will greatly improve your chances of getting a spot as we know youโ€™ve actually read the info). Donโ€™t forget to also include how many spots youโ€™ll have in your car if applicable, dietary requirements, and if you will only be attending one of the days.

What if I just want to come and camp, but not go on trips?

This is totally alright, just let us know in your signup comment that you are only coming to camp. We will also release a Camping Only Event closer to the weekend. Note, you canโ€™t change your mind about this when you get to Boree Log because all the individual trips will be full by then!
