Blair and I are leading a beginners canyon on the sunday or boree log
The lower half of Macquarie Pass canyon has a little bit of everything – a few abseils, a few water jumps and it’s quite pretty! 🙂
There will be quite a lot of driving – 1.5 hours from Bungonia on sunday morning and then about 1 hr 45 mins back to sydney after. We need to do a car shuffle so will preference people with a car.
We’ll aim to leave Bungonia campground by 8:30am
Please PM me with
- your experience level
- whether you have a car
- what gear you already have and what gear you need to get/find/buy – let me know – Please don’t tell me on the day ‘oops i didn’t think that was a necessity’
What to bring:
- can be borrowed from the club:
- harness
- helmet
- belay device and locking biner
- safety and locking biner
- self-belay prussik
- Probably can be borrowed from the club: wetsuit (the club has some wetsuits but there are no guarantees they will be the right size. if you can borrow one or buy your own that would be recommended!)
- Source yourself:
- Headtorch (can be bought for less than $15 at anaconda and will come in useful in the future if you plan to keep doing outdoorsy stuff)
- thermals to wear under wetsuit and beanie
- DRY thermals in DRYBAG (or other warm clothes – e.g. fleece jacket) – no cotton!
- closed shoes and woollen socks (no cotton)
