Ello beloved Boree-Loggers,
On the Saturday of Boree Log, Nicola, Bayu and I will be running an intermediate canyon through Hole in the Wall. Hole in the Wall is a fantastic canyon with a few abseils, narrow constrictions and an amazing cave populated with glow worms.
To do this canyon you must have abseiled and canyoned before as some of the abseils can be a little tricky. If you’re not sure whether you’d be suitable for this canyon, feel free to shoot me a message.
WHAT TO BRING:
- Wetsuit (optional thermals to wear underneath)
- Helmet
- Harness
- Belay device (e.g. an ATC) and locking biner
- Safety sling
(If you don’t have any of the above items, we’ll sort this out on Saturday morning by borrowing club gear. That being said, it would be great if you could source your own wetsuit as wetsuits are usually highly sort after by other canyoning trips)
- Head torch
- Water – at least 1.5L
- Food – enough for lunch and snacks
- Dry bag – you can buy these from any outdoors store, be really nice and ask to borrow someone else’s or use a few plastic bags wrapped on top of each other. Dry bags carry your food, spare clothes and anything else that you don’t want to get wet during the canyon
- Backpack that you don’t mind getting wet and thrown around
- Shoes with good grip and drainage – Dunlop volleys are a good bet if you don’t have anything else
- Woolen socks – absolutely no cotton as this will freeze your feet
- Dry clothes to change into for the walk out
If you have any questions, feel free to message Nicola, Bayu or myself.
Cheers!
