Yo yo Boree loggers!

Hanna and I will be running a hike from the Bungonia campsite, along the plateau (green track), up to Mt Ayre and then down to the Shoalhaven river (white track).
This hike will feature spectacular views, challenging but rewarding ascents, potential swimming in the Shoalhaven and lots of MUSHROOOOOMS (for viewing not for eating).

There will be a few steep decents and ascents but this walk is suitable for ALL levels of fitness. It will take us between 5-7 hrs to complete this walk including a long relaxing break by the shoalhaven river.

We will be LEAVING the campsite around 8:30 AM, planning to return around 4:00 PM at the latest.

YOU WILL NEED:

  • Head-torch – Very important. If we get stuck in the dark you will have a horrible time ascending Mt Ayre.
  • Sunscreen– Make sure you bring lots of sunscreen and apply every few hours!
  • Water– Water is extremely important. Bring AT LEAST 2L of water. There will be a place to fill up a the campsite and about 3/4 into the day (approx. 5-6hrs in) So come prepared!! You can fill up in the Shoalhaven if you’re game.
  • Lunch– You must provide your OWN lunch.
  • Snacks– We’ll be doing a lot of exercise, so make sure you bring lots of snacks to keep your energy levels up! Bring things like nuts, fruit, dried fruit, lollies, biscuits, chocolate, muesli bars, etc.
  • Appropriate clothes – Appropriate hiking shoes, Hat, light clothes (you will get hot!), a jumper and raincoat in case of bad weather.
  • First Aid Kit – If you have one.
  • Swimmers – Hopefully it will be a nice hot day and we can go for a swiiiiiiiim in the Shoalhaven.
  • MOST IMPORTANTLY – You will need to sign up to the MAIN Boree log event before you will be accepted for this one.
