Hey hey!
So this is a canyon aimed at absolute beginners who want to learn to abseil, and I also might go through some prussiking and Knot tying skills throughout the day.
This canyon is supposed to be BEAUtiful with a lot of variety and excellent views of the Grose Valley! It’s a relatively short canyon with only one abseil and a possible second, so we’ll have plenty of time to take it slow and show you the ropes (hah!) as we go. We’ll also do a quick ‘intro to abseiling’ at the campsite for beginners or for anyone who wants a recap. If we finish early then we can either go over some more canyoning skills, or we can run through Grand Canyon at Blackheath.
WHAT TO BRING:
- SHOES – note that these shoes are going to get wet and dirty. I recommend buying a pair of cheap volleys or other light shoes. I DON’T recommend hiking shoes.
- DRY BAG – Anything you take into the canyon is probably going to get wet. If you want snacks or dry clothes I suggest investing in a dry bag. You can get one for ~$10 from any outdoors store.
- SNACKS – Food is so important in canyons. It keeps your energy levels up and also can keep you warm! I recommend muesli bars, nuts, fruit, chocolate and anything that’s going to keep you happy!
- LUNCH – You must provide your own lunch!
- CLOTHES – Warm socks and a pair of daggy shorts are essential, again these will get wet and dirty. Optional: Warm dry clothes for the walk out is always nice but if you don’t have a dry bag they’ll just get wet.
- BACKPACK – to carry all these things!
WHAT WE’LL PROVIDE (if you own any of these items please bring them):
