CAMPING ONLY – Boree Log Term 3 2023

13th – 15th October

Missed out on Boree Log signups but still want to come along for a weekend of fun, friends and good times! Then you’re in the right place.

We are opening up some CAMPING ONLY spots for Boree Log because we want as many of you to be involved as possible.

HOWEVER! We will have a few extra spots open in SUNDAY ONLY TRIPS! If you’d like to get onto one of these, please put which types of trip (Climbing, Canyoning, Kayak and Hike) you’d like to attend in the comment, in order from most preferred to least preferred. We will prioritise those who didn’t make it into the main event.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————

What this means

  • You get to come along to the same campground as everyone else from Friday night to Sunday Morning
  • Saturday night you get to join in on the Nautical Nonsense themed Party and Dinner (yes, we will happily feed you)
  • During the day on Saturday and Sunday you are more than welcome to split off and do your own adventures.
    • There’s plenty of amazing day hikes around the area or you can go for a lovely swim in the river. If you are self sufficient by all means go for a climb too!

—————————————————————————————————————————————————

This event we will be at Bendeela Campground in the Kangaroo Valley. Our theme is Nautical Nonsense! We want to see your best ocean and nautical themed costumes for Saturday night. From Spongebob to Jack Sparrow to dressing as an inflatable swan, if it’s in the ocean it’s free game. Be creative!

—————————————————————————————————————————————————

Note, please do not expect to find any last minute free spots on official Boree Log Trips once you get there, these are currently full and the numbers need to be capped for safety.

However you may be able to get on a Sunday Trip ONLY. Make sure to answer the comment and we’ll see what we can do. We will prioritise those who didn’t make it into the main event for these spots.

If spots do open up we will look to fill these.

PRE-VOTING! Compulsory for Australian Citizens!!

Voting is compulsory for Australian citizens aged 18 years or older. If you do not vote and don’t have a valid and sufficient reason, you may be fined.

Unfortunately, Boree Log this term has lined up with the Indigenous Voice Referendum date on October 14th. This means that all attendees who are Australian Citizens MUST PRE-VOTE before the weekend.

Hundreds of early voting centres will progressively open and be available over the two weeks before voting day. In NSW, early voting will begin Tuesday October 3rd.

Please use this site to find a polling location, and go in and vote as normal. It is the same process as you would have gone through on the Referendum day.

Otherwise you can apply for a postal vote.

If you have any concerns, feel free to reach out to me, Amelia Vasiliou, on messenger or any of the exec.

What do I need to bring! (IMPORTANT)

  • Food and Water – There is drinking water at the campground but please bring some from home and ensure you have a water container that can carry at least 2L for your day trips! A hundred people lining up for water isn’t ideal. We will only be providing dinner on Saturday night. There is also no power so bring a camping cooker or food that doesn’t need to be cooked
  • Tent – If you have your own tent, please bring it. The club has a very limited number of tents that can be borrowed from the gear cupboard, these are first-come-first-served.
  • Sleeping Bag and Sleeping Mat – You need to bring your own as it may be chilly, and a yoga mat/blanket might not be a fun night’s sleep for you
  • WARM CLOTHES – We’re hoping for warm weather and clear skies, please be prepared for cold nights and rain if need be!
  • Check this packing list if you are unsure what else to bring.
  • Personal items (e.g. toiletries, face mask, head torches, rain jackets, day pack, personal first aid kits, SUNSCREEN, cutlery, plate/bowl, water bottle, alcohol for Saturday night if you want)

—————————————————————————————————————————————————

How do I get there?

  • You’ll be able to use the same carpooling as the Main Boree log event
    • Click HERE for the carpooling spreadsheet
  • Please let us know in your signup if you have a car, and how many spots you have!

—————————————————————————————————————————————————

Other Frequently Asked questions:

  • Q: Can I bring a hairdryer/microwave?
    • A: No, we have no power at the campground. And yes we have been asked this before
  • Q: Are there any toilet facilities?
    • A: There are drop toilets. No running water. Please bring toilet paper!
  • For more questions like this, and actual answers too, see the FAQ

Cost:

  • Apart from petrol, this trip is free for all club members. Petrol costs will be split per car, expect approx. $10 per person each way.
