Hey guys,
We will be leading a group through the lower section of Gloucester Falls canyon on the Saturday of Boree Log. As we have NEVER DONE this part of the canyon, please only join this trip if you have a good range of canyoning experience – you should be comfortable with river walking, rock scrambling, abseiling, getting yourself on/off rope, self-belaying, etc.You will need to have ALL your own gear for this canyon – if you do not have all of the gear listed below, try to borrow from a friend as it is unlikely you will be able to borrow from the club (Beginners trips get priority for gear).

Please ensure you bring: shoes with good grip (eg. volleys), wetsuit, harness, belay device, safety sling, carabiners, prussik(s) for self-belay, backpack, drybag, lunch / snacks, water bottle, helmet, headlight torch, emergency blanket, beanie, thermals or warm jacket, plus a change of clothes to leave in the car.

As we do not know this section of the canyon, we cannot acurately estimate how long the trip will take. We will however be aiming to leave camp (all gear packed) at 7AM. This is due to the 1.5hr drive to the start of the canyon, plus ~1.5hr walk in. If you are not ready to leave at 7am, you may be left behind.

We know very little about this section of the canyon and are unsure of the best exit point so please be prepared for an exploratory-style trip. We will be aiming to cut in where we exited on the reccy trip, at a large waterfall around 60m high, and continuing downstream from there. Be prepared for a number of abseils, lots of swimming, boulder scrambling and bush-bashing.
