Cindy and I (Zee) will be down in Bungonia this weekend and thought to run a trip on Saturday for some caving. This trip would suit those with their own gear.
As of yet, we are unsure which holes we will poke our heads into but they may include abseiling and ascending, thus experience with rope is preferred. There will definitely be dust, crawling, squeezing and scrambling.
What YOU need to bring:
- Enclosed grippy shoes
- Long sleeved clothes/long pants that you are comfortable getting dirty/will keep you warm for a full day in the cave
- Gloves (gardening gloves are best)
- Soft knee pads and elbow pads are nice
- Helmet*
- Harness*
- Descender* (Figure 8/raprack etc.)
- Prusik/biner*
- Sling/biner (safety)*
- Set of ascenders*
- Headtorch
- Spare batteries for headtorch or secondary torch
- Food/snacks for the day
- At least 1L water
- Emergency blanket
- Small bag to carry everything
- Personal medications
*We will bring a couple of spares
Even if you aren’t camping, bringing a change of clothes and toiletries for a shower after are a great idea.
