Hey all you goofy goobers (spongebob kids will know),

We (Mali and Marley (don’t you dare get them confused)) will be running a super-duper-chill-as beginner sport climbing trip on Saturday to Dam Cliffs in anticipation of the oven-like conditions the blue mountains summer weekends seem to provide.

Since Dam cliffs is an old quarry that has now been dammed up it has a hugeomongous swimming hole with cliff jumping, rope swings and deep water free solo climbs. We will likely finish up the day with a chill mix of the above activities, for all those who are interested (you can also just chill :)). If you want to have a geez at the crag before signing up, have a look here (you might find something you’re stoked to try).

Attendees will need the following:

  • Skills: Ideally some top-roping experience however none is ok too! We can teach no worries.
  • Gear: Since its a Boree Log we will grab all our gear on the day but you’ll need a harness, Personal Anchor, Belay device (ATC), climbing shoes (ideally), and a helmet (a must)
  • Clothing: Make sure you check the weekend weather before coming up, but if its hot you should definitely not bring warm clothes (i.e. long-sleeves) and you should definitely bring some swimmers and a towel. If its raining we probably won’t end up going here (but still please bring raincoats if its going to rain no matter where we go).
  • To answer the following question in the trip request comment: What is your favourite place in Australia you’ve been to?
  • Food: Bring whatever you want for lunch and afternoon tea as we will be spending the day at the crag (our advice is bring something simple and easy, and also bring sugary stuff for when climbing).
  • Water: Bring a minimum of 2L (No you can’t drink the dam water (unless you have a purification method)).

Also as an FYI: You need to be approved for the main Boree Log event to attend these trips. Please sign up for only ONE trip per day. If you get rejected you can then sign up for another trip, this just makes it easier for volunteer trip leaders. Please be aware that as the weather is unpredictable, trip leaders may need to alter trips accordingly.

If this trip floats your boat 😉 then feel free to request to join. Feel free to send us a pm on facebook (Mali Woods or Marley Shaw-McHenry) with any questions or just to say hello and let us know you’re keen (and will probs make us more inclined to have you come).
