This is a beginners canyoning trip, as part of Boree Log – that means you’ll need to be signed up to Boree Log to join. This trip is limited to 10 people – you do not need any canyoning or abseiling experience but you do need good fitness.
Wollangambe canyon (section 1) is a fun and relaxed lilo trip down a very nice section of wide canyon. We will access the canyon from the Mt Wilson fire shed, 5 minutes drive from our campsite at Cathedral Reserve. The day will start with a 45min walk-in, then a relaxed full day float down the river, with some scrambling sections and jumps. About half-way through we will explore up the bottom of Water Dragon canyon which is a beautiful narrow slot. Once we reach the exit point at the end of the canyon, we will have lunch. If we have time, there is the option of exploring downstream to a great rock-jump spot and hidden glow-worm cave. The walk out takes about 1.5hrs and is initially quite steep. We will arrive back at the cars and head home from there.
