UNSWOC ventures to the Lost City.. take two!12771065045_1bcaaafb08_b

Due to bad weather the hiking trip to the Lost City last weekend was cancelled. But Liam and I are determined to make it happen this Boree log!

This is a very beginner-friendly bushwalk along cobbled paths, winding streams and through dense Australian bush. The walk itself shouldn’t be too long, taking from 2 to 3 hours each way. At the end of our walk we’ll come to a huge dam with lots of jump rocks, swings and plenty of wildlife! We’ll spend the majority of the day here swimming before heading up to the Lost city for a spectacular view of the valley, the dam and amazing pagodas!

YOU WILL NEED:

  • Sunscreen– Just because summer is over doesn’t mean the Australian sun is any less harsh. Make sure you bring lots of sunscreen and apply every few hours!
  • Water– With the hot weather water is extremely important. Bring AT LEAST 2L of water.
  • Lunch– You must provide your OWN lunch.
  • Snacks– We’ll be doing a lot of exercise, so make sure you bring lots of snacks to keep your energy levels up! Bring things like nuts, fruit, dried fruit, lollies, biscuits, chocolate, muesli bars, etc.
  • Appropriate clothes – Appropriate hiking shoes, Hat, light clothes (you will get hot!), a light raincoat or jumper if the weather forecast predicts a cold front. SWIMMERS!
  • Head-torch – This is a pretty basic bushwalk so if you don’t have a head-torch then don’t panic (although you should definitely invest in one) BUT if you have one please please bring it. Walking along the fire-trail in the dark will be a lot more pleasant if you can see.
  • First Aid Kit – If you have one. Plenty of tape for blisters and Band-Aids.

PLAN OF ATTACK:

  • At the VERY LATEST we’ll be leaving the Mt Wilson campground at 8:45AM, so please try to be READY at 8.
  • We will be driving into Lithgow to the start of the walk so please let me know if you will be taking a car to Boree log as the number of people we can take will greatly depend on this.

Hopefully this was self-explanatory but if not, look for Liam Hayes or Matilda Barlow on the UNSWOC facebook page and send us a message!

Cheers!!
