[Beginners] Abseiling Workshop @ Quarry Reserve Maroubra

Elliot and I will be running a beginner’s abseiling workshop at Quarry Reserve in Maroubra this Sunday.

This workshop will teach you the necessary skills required for canyoning (and access to some fantastic climbs! See pics below)

We will be covering the following:

• Abseiling using an ATC
• Abseiling using a Figure 8
• Double strand Abseiling
• “ABCDE” Safety Check
• Bottom / Fireman’s belay your mates

Gear Required:

• Harness*
• Helmet*
• Safety sling*
• 3 x Locking Carabiner*
• ATC*
• Figure 8*
• Comfortable close-toed shoes

* Can be borrowed from Gear Sheds

As this trip is a bit of a late notice, and the gear shed isn’t really open today – please tell me what gear you already have and what gear you will need (if you cannot make it to gear shed today)
