Beginner/Intermediate Sport Climbing – Upper Shipley

Hey everyone!

Oscar and I will be running a trip to Upper Shipley mainly around the Grey Slab area which is open to complete beginners. We will be setting up top-ropes and the grades range mostly 17 with 2 13s as well. There is also a lot of hard stuff nearby. Plenty of easy stuff as an introduction to outdoor climbing, but if you’re keen to spend the day leading the harder stuff that’s a-ok. Feel free to have a look on thecrag and let us know what you’re keen to try so we can set that up for you. It should be a chill day, and a chilly day so remember to bring some warmer clothes.

We will be aiming to meet at the crag at 10am and be driving back by 4:30pm. It is a bit of a drive, depending what part of Sydney you’re leaving from. Like always we will be organising car pooling so don’t sweat it if you don’t have access to a car. All climbing gear can be hired from the gear cupboard from 4-5pm on Thursdays, you can make a booking here. If you can’t get to the gear cupboard, let myself or Oscar know and we can pick it up for you. If you have any questions please shoot me a message on Facebook. What To Bring:

• Personal gear (Harness, helmet and climbing shoes)
• Belay Device (ATC and Locking Carabiner or similar)
• Enclosed shoes suitable for a scramble
• Warm clothes & wind breaker(it will be pretty cold)
• A backpack for all your stuff
• Lunch & snacks (we will be spending the day at the crag and you will get hungry)
• 2L of water

If you want to bring other gear you already own, feel free to. We will be grabbing plenty of ropes, quickdraws, anchors etc from the gear cupboard.
