Beginner/Intermediate Mountain biking trip to Mill Creek

Hey all.

This Sunday, Hamish and I (Bennett) will be running a mountain bike trip to Mill Creek in Menai. Mill creek has a really fun mix of flow and tech trails with one of Sydney’s only machine built trails.

The trails are rated a mix of beginner green and intermediate blue, keeping in mind that even Sydney’s easy trails can get quite rocky. Ideally, you’ll want some prior mountain biking experience before attending this trip. Send me a message if you’ve got questions about the level of trails.

Plan is to meet in the morning, ride for a few hours exploring the trail network and then head home. We’ll be meeting at the ANSTO nuclear science carpark and riding from there. We’ll figure out specific times in a group chat with those signed up. It’s worth noting the trails aren’t super easy to access by bike with freeways on approach so travel by car is recommended.

What you’ll need:

• Mountain Bike – the club does not own any so you’ll need your own (or borrow a friends). Please check everything works before coming.
• Bike specific Helmet – Bring other safety gear if you have/want it, but a helmet is mandatory. Please no rock climbing helmets.
• Water – Even though its winter you’ll want some water throughout the ride
• Repairs – basic repairs, e.g. tube, multi-tool
• Snacks – either for during the ride or back at the cars afterwards
