****TRIP FULL – wow that filled up quick. If you missed out this time don’t worry. We’ll try run some more regular club MTB trips soon. The final “available” spot on the website is to serve as a waiting list. Should anyone drop out we will contact those who’d requested a spot but missed out****
Hey all,
This Sunday Zee and I (Bennett) will be heading to H20 Mountain Bike trails in Westleigh for a super fun beginner/intermediate mountain biking trip.
H20 has a great mix of green (easy) and blue (intermediate) trails perfect for those getting into the sport. Keep in mind that even green trails in Sydney can still tend to be a little rocky and challenging at times, so some basic bike control is a must (ie prior mountain biking experience will help, but if you’re comfortable riding a bike and this is your first time mountain biking you’re still in for a super fun time – just might have to walk the occasional short section of trail).
We’ll be meeting at the trailhead in Westleigh at 9:30am on Sunday. If you have a car there is plenty of free parking available. If you need to catch public transport with your bike the nearest train station looks to be Thornleigh, approx a 20 minute/3.5km ride to the trails according to google maps.
When/Where:
- Trailhead at Westleight H20 Mountain Bike trails at 9:30am this Sunday
- We’ll ride for a few hours exploring the network then head home
What to Bring
- A mountain bike – doesn’t have to be top of the line, but something with front suspension, disc brakes and wide, offroad tyres at a minimum. If you have any questions about your bike please feel free to shoot me a message.
- Note, unfortunately the club does not have mountain bikes for hire. So you’ll need your own bike (or borrow a friend’s)
- Make sure your mountain bike is working BEFORE Saturday morning. Zee and I will not be able to do maintenance on bikes while the group waits eagerly for the ride. Check your tyres, gears, suspension etc before Saturday please.
- A bike helmet
- No rock climbing helmets – save those for the crag please
- Water
- Expect a hot day, bring plenty of water on your bike/in a small backpack
- Snacks
- Enough snacks to keep you fuelled for a few hours. There are no food options immediately nearby
- Any personal medication
- Sports clothing to exercise in
- Protection
- If you have knee pads, gloves, etc. If not that’s ok.
- Repairs – any spares you have for your bike (spare tube, pump, etc)
Signups
- Make sure to let us know how you’ll be getting to the trails (car, train, etc) and if you’d have room in your car for anyone else (including their bike)
- Lastly, make sure you include if you have any prior mountain biking experience in your sign up comment
If you have any questions, feel free to send myself (Bennett Frerck) a message on Facebook.
Get excited for a great day out exploring the trails!
