Join Frenchy and I (Luke) on a canyon trip this Saturday exploring the spectacular upper reaches of Bowens Creek!
Expect a great day canyoning for around 8 hours with plenty of bushwalking, rock scrambling, cold swims, and abseiling.
Please make sure you bring ALL gear listed below!
Gear available to borrow from the Gear Cupboard:
- Harness
- Helmet
- 3x locking carabiners
- 1x Figure 8 / Descender
- 1x Safety sling
- Drybag
- Wetsuit
- Emergency blanket – (can buy from Gear Cupboard for $5 or from chemists, shops, etc)
Other gear you MUST bring:
- Backpack that can fit ALL your gear and that can get wet (30L+)
- Clothing:
- Enclosed shoes with good grip, suitable for water and bushwalking
- Wool or neoprene socks
- Boardshorts to wear on top of wetsuit (compulsory to protect the club wetsuits)
- Thermals and raincoat
- Swimmers for under wetsuit
- NO COTTON! (this includes socks, shirts, pants, undies, etc)
- Food:
- 2L of water
- Lunch
- Snacks to share!
- Other:
- Medication (asthma puffer, Epipen etc)
- Headtorch + spare batteries
- dry clothes for the drive home
