Beginner Bouldering – Frontline [FULL]

Contrary to popular belief within the club, bouldering is indeed “real climbing” and demands the same respect as sport climbing. In an attempt to prove its superiority, Gabe, Rachel and I (Oscar) will be running a bouldering trip to Frontline this coming Friday. To avoid the summer heat we’ll meet at 3 pm and climb through the afternoon into the evening.

This a beginner trip so no outdoor climbing experience is required. We’ll demonstrate good spotting and pad laying technique to teach how to boulder outdoors safely.

Frontline is the largest bouldering crag in Sydney and has a massive variety of climbs for all levels so we’ll work out which climbs everyone wants to do on the day depending on the experience of the group.

What to bring: 

• Climbing shoes* + chalk (optional)
• 2L of water
• Food
• Sunscreen
• Walking shoes (for the short approach)
• Head torch (if it gets dark for the walk out)

* If you need climbing shoes let us know in the comments as well as your shoe size so we can pick them up from the gear cupboard for you

We will be bringing the club’s bouldering mats but if you own one feel free to bring it along, the more mats the merrier
