Hey all,
It’s Boree log time, which means it’s another great opportunity for you to turn your arse into such a finely sculpted piece of stone even Michelangelo would be impressed (but I’m not making any guarantees).
The plan is to head early on Friday, so you’ll need to have the day free, and to ride via the Glow Worm Tunnel. It is a fantastic route, mostly on dirt, with almost no traffic. Since it is dirt, you’ll need either a touring bike, commuting bike or mountain bike (or just be really hard core and bring a road bike and a large number of spare tubes). If you are strong, or are in it for the gains, you can carry your Boree log gear on the bike, with racks and panniers from the club. Alternatively, you stash you stuff in the trailer, and send it on up so you can ride free and light. You’ll still need things for the day, like:
- A bike
- A helmet
- Some spare tubes
- Lunch and snacks
- Plenty of water (there is none available on the way)
- Rain jacket/gear for if it gets a bit chilly
- Good bike lights (they have to be able to light your way in the dark. Think frodo in shelobs lair)
- a multitool
I’ll bring a tool kit too, but you’ll really need to know the basics of how to deal with issues with your bike. On the way back, the plan is to cycle along a nice 4wd trail before ultimately getting back to Lithgow station.
If you have any other questions, or simply want to know whether you, or your noble steed is up to the task, just comment on the post of Facebook.
Here’s a nice map of the total route (remember we’ll be camping at Newnes Friday and Saturday):
Cheerio folks!
