Hey everyone!

Tad and I (Mali) will be running a Trad Climbing trip to Mount Boyce this Saturday the 12th of November!

The current plan is to meet at the approach for the crag Saturday morning and spend the day touching on the basics of traditional climbing. The day will be a great introduction (or reintroduction) for people keen on understanding trad gear, cruising up cracks, and enjoying the mountains views on top-rope!

Check out the area here: https://www.thecrag.com/climbing/australia/blue-mountains/mt-boyce

Didn’t have any mt boyce photos, so here’s Ange racing up fer de lance at zig zag. (click the image)

  • The gear: Bring your own gear OR go visit the gear guys at the gear cupboard (UNSW, don’t forget a cash deposit) and grab yourself a
    • Helmet
    • Harness
    • Locking carabiner + belay device (ATC)
    • Climbing shoes
    • Chalk bag if you like
  • Is this trip suitable for you? Ideally, this trip is for people who have a little bit of climbing experience and are keen to learn crack climbing and trad placements. Minimum level top rope grade 14-15 to make the most of it. If you know how to lead belay and lead competently, you’re more than welcome to join! So please, briefly write YOUR climbing experience in the comments – let us know what your comfortable climbing grades are, and tell us your favourite outdoor climb so far!
  • Also, Mount Boyce is in the Blue Mountains, so we will need a few cars to get everybody there. So, let us know if you have a car in the comments – trip spots will depend on how many cars we have between us!
  • What to bring:
    • Food and water for the day (it gets hot, at least 2 L)
    • Personal meds if needed
    • Appropriate clothing for climbing and a jacket if it gets cold + a rain jacket
    • A decent size backpack to fit all the climbing gear
    • Enclosed shoes for the approach, it’s very steep
    • Sunscreen, phone full of battery
    • HEAD TORCH.

If you have any questions, text me (Mali Woods) on Facebook. Get keen !
