A Beginners Guide to the Underground World

Hello there!

Are you curious about the hidden world underground? If you are, I will be running a completely beginner friendly training session on caving to help you get one of those many sought after spots on the upcoming caving trips! The training session will be run at the Ledge. We will cover most things caving (except for abseiling). The session will be broken into two parts:

Part 1: Stuff you should know
Part 1 will start with some club caving videos to give you an idea of what caving is and get you psyched! Part 1 will run from 5-6pm, and we will cover:

• What to expect
• What to take
• How to navigate underground
• Cave safety and etiquette
• Some fun facts

Part 2: Ascending
Part 2 will start around 6pm, and is more hands on covering topics going upwards. You will learn and get the chance to practice:

• Jumaring
• The easy (and safe) way to climb a cave ladder.
• Spotting a climber

Please comment which part you wish to attend (you are welcome to attend one or both). You must be signed up to the Ledge event to come along to this training session, as it will be held at the Ledge.
