Join Georgie and myself (Dan) for a fun, big day out of canyoning on Sunday at Boree Log! Make the most of being up at Mt Wilson by exploring somewhere that you can only really access with technical rope skills โ I honestly think the canyons are the most beautiful part of the Blue Mountains, and this is your chance to explore a top-tier one! I also once saw a bandicoot in this canyon. But first:
You need to be approved for the main Boree Log event to attend these trips. Please sign up for only ONE trip per day. If you get rejected you can then sign up for another trip, this just makes it easier for volunteer trip leaders. Please be aware that as the weather is unpredictable, trip leaders may need to alter trips accordingly.
This will be a full day โ think 8 hours start to finish โ so you must have a high enough level fitness, and some experience abseiling already (you donโt need to have done a canyon before). Expect multiple abseils, hiking on steep and slippery slopes, and cold swims. Have a look at the notes here: https://ozultimate.com/canyoning/track_notes/bowens_creek_south.htm, and if youโre accepted, it would be good to have a look through them prior to the day. When applying, tell us if you have a car/how many spots (we will need to car shuffle back to Sydney), how much abseiling/canyon experience you have, and importantly, if you could be a bird, which bird would you be?
Itโs critical that every person on this trip has the right gear:
Gear available to borrow from the club (this will all be brought to Boree Log, you donโt need to hire beforehand). Please bring your own if you have:
