SATURDAY BEGINNERS CANYONING BOREE LOG – North Bowens Lower Section

It’s Boree Log time guys! Woohooo! Come and sign up for this fun and easy canyon suitable for newbies and let myself and David show you a whole new world in a magic carpet made of moss.

For who?
This canyon is suitable for all levels, including beginners

What exactly are we going to do?
David and myself will take you guys through the relaxing and beautiful North Bowens Canyon’s lower section. This will involves a little bit of hiking, a little bit of swimming, a little bit of jumping into deep pool, and a little bit of abseiling, and absolute fun times

Any particular skills required?
As long as you know how to swim, have reasonable amount of fitness, can withstand a bit of cold temperature, comfortable with the idea of abseiling from a 15 metre-high ledge and some jumps into a deep pool of water, then you’ll be fine. Never abseiled before? We’ll teach you how on the spot.

What do I have to bring myself?

• Thermals (this is to wear underneath your wetsuit for extra warmth and comfort. Not compulsory, so if you decide not to wear one, you better be sure you’re fine with cold water)
• Dry bag (this is a special waterproof bag to keep your food and dry clothing), if you can’t get any, layers and layers of plastic bag/ziplock bag may work too
• Woolen socks (no cotton, please)
• Lunch and snacks (and cutleries if you need them)
• Small plastic bag for any rubbish you might produce
• Personal medications (if you have to bring any)
• Water ( at least 1L, but 2L is preferable)
• Closed shoes such as joggers (runners) or volleys you don’t mind getting wet and dirty
• A day backpack to carry everything in this list. Remember this backpack will also get wet and dirty
• Head torch (you can buy these from outdoors/camping equipment stores like Anaconda, Mountain Design, etc)
• Boardshort to wear over your wetsuit to protect the wetsuit from any scratch/tear
• A ridiculous amount of enthusiasm and jokes to entertain the trip leaders

What do I have to bring but the club can lend you one on the spot? 
Any of these items below, we can lend you on the spot. But if you have your own, please do bring them

• Helmet
• Harness
• Safety sling
• ATC
• Locking carabiner
• Prussik
• Wetsuit

IMPORTANT NOTE: There is another trip on Saturday Boree Log of the same canyon as this one. Both trips will be running but will start with a slight delay. So don’t get confused 🙂
