Whoohoo Fortress Canyon with myself and Ben Wilkinson! This is an easy-medium canyon most loved for its ending which is the lunch spot at the top of a waterfall overlooking the beautiful Blue Mountains. You will need to have experience abseiling and have basic swimming skills to do this canyon. The canyon should take about 4 hours car-to-car and is on the way home tfrom the Mt Wilson campground.
What you need to bring:
- Swimmers
- Wetsuit (which can be borrowed from the club, but bring your own to avoid disappointment)
- Helmet (which can be borrowed from the club)
- Harness, belay device, safety sling and locking biner (which can be borrowed from the club)
- Old shorts to go over your wetsuit
- Shoes that can get wet and that are preferably a bit grippy – old joggers or cheap sneakers from Kmart will do the job
- Towel
- Dry change of clothes for after the canyon
- Dry bag (at least 15L) which can be purchased from MacPac
- Food consisting of snacks and lunch
- At least 1.5L of water
- Sunscreen
- Backpack which can get wet
- Thongs/sandals for after the canyon
Drivers will be preferenced so please indicate whether you will have a car when signing up
