517Hey,
Alastair, Michael Mate (and potentially some other trad leaders) and I are thinking about heading to Cosmic County this Sunday. Cosmic is home to what most Trad Daddies and Crack Whores agree is the Mountains’ best splitter (read awesome crack): Interstate 31. There are some other awesome climbs to get on there.
Due to transport limitations, this trip is targeted at climbers who want to improve their ropework and anchor skills/knowledge. As such, you should already have some level of exposure to these skills (e.g.. Brendan’s anchor workshops, some experience seconding trad, etc.). Assumed knowledge (which we will go over briefly before we start climbing) includes:
- Types of anchor systems – sliding X, cordalette, eqalette, qua
- Knots – clove hitch, alpine butterfly and the usual stuff like overhand and figure eight on a bight
This is a good way to learn about trad placements and gain exposure to a different (and awesome) style of climbing: crack climbing. Shoot me a message on acebook or emailme if you’re interested (with experience, etc)
Oh and the plan is to set up a top rope on I31 and do Death Crack laps
