You must have been to Basic Anchors Training or know how to build anchors to attend this course
Hey everyone,
Tuesday 6:30pm (fb event will be updated with law building room) I’ll be teaching the must-know self rescue skill of haul systems. Please register below. They are important for multi-pitching, canyoning, mountaineering and even kayaking.
NB: This does not qualify you to safely build haul systems or undertake activities mentioned. Merely instructional, get a mentor/someone to take you/official courses, your risks are your own.
I’ve used haul systems
- Rescuing seconds who are injured/unable to climb a certain part (although ideally you shouldn’t bring them up something too hard for them)
- Bringing up a stuck abseiler
- Hauling gear up a climb
- Retrieving stuck ropes
There are more applications including
- kayaking portadge
- crevasse rescue
- tightening tyrolean traverses
- etc. etc.
Based on my experience and ‘Self Rescue’ by David Fasulo I’ll be teaching the
- Ole ‘throw a loop and biner down’ (the best system if within 1/3 rope length, and not in the self rescue book)
- 3 to 1 (Z drag)
- 5 to 1
- 6 to 1
Cheers
Brendan
