Hello fellow outdoors people,
I will be leading a day hike on Sunday (16th) in the Lower Blue Mountains. This trip is open to beginners as long as you have the required fitness and personal gear (see below). We will be taking the train to and from the hike.
Details!
Hike details: Starting at Faulconbridge train station and ending at Blaxland train station via Lost World Lookout. The hike includes some excellent lookouts, camp caves, ponds, waterfalls, and volcanic ridges. Approximately 15 km long. I expect to take around 5-6 hours at a leisurely pace. Hike has about 4 km of fairly steep uphill sections. There are a few creek crossings so your feet/shoes may get wet.
Meeting time/place: 7 am at Central station (Western Concourse – where the buses park). Due to track works we will take a bus to Blacktown and then take the train the rest of the way. Bus leaves at 7:20 am. I will be waiting where the buses pickup (here) from 7 am.
Gear to bring:
Backpack: To carry all the stuff outlined below
Comfortable hiking shoes: Nothing fancy. Just something that can get wet/dirty, won’t give you blisters, and wont fall apart
Hiking clothes: Long pants and long sleeves are recommended to protect from the bush.
Additional clothes: Spare warm clothes so you don’t get cold
Lunch and snakcs: You know, Food! (Chocolate, nuts, sandwiches, fruit, whatever you like…)
1.5 L Water: For drinking
Hat/sunblock: Australia gives you cancer
Headlamp/torch: Shouldn’t need it, but carry one anyway
Your strong legs: 15 km hike with some steep bits. Are you fit enough?
If you have any questions or need some gear let me know via email or find me on facebook.
Cheers,
Garrett
