Welcome to the Club – Beginners Social Hike, Audley

Hey Everyone!

If you’ve just joined the club, we have the perfect event for you! We want to get to know you better so we will be running a social hike in the Royal National Park on Saturday 15th February (end of O-Week). This is a great area very close to Sydney and is even the world’s second-oldest national park!

If hiking really isn’t your thing, then come over to The Ledge on Thursday afternoons, or keep an eye out on our Instagram / Facebook page for details about our Welcome BBQ.

Where is it?

Our route is from Engadine to Loftus via Audley. The walk starts at Engadine train station, before following the Engadine Track down to Kangaroo Creek where we can have a swim in the river if the weather is looking up to it. We then continue to Audley for a nice little picnic area (where there are toilets, whoa!) before climbing up the stairs out to Loftus station.

We will meet at Engadine Station at 10am. Expect to be back at Loftus station around 4-5pm.

Who can come?

This event is mainly for the new members who have just started uni, are looking to join the club soon, or joined the club recently (maybe at the o-week stall 👀).

This trip is very beginner friendly, assuming you have a base level of fitness and can comfortably walk 11km in a day. No prior bushwalking / hiking experience is needed.

We will take plenty of breaks and nobody will be left behind 🙂

What to bring?

• Backpack to hold your belongings
• Sun protection: Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen
• Sturdy, enclosed shoes – definitely not a hike for thongs.
• At least 2L of water
• Snacks and Lunch
• Change of clothes / swimmers / towel
• Rain jacket (check the weather)
• Any personal medication you may need

You will be turned back if you do not have appropriate supplies 🙂

You don’t need to join the club just yet to come along on this trip, however you do need to sign up to the website (no need to pay the fee).

Then, scroll down to the bottom of this page. There will be a comment box and a button saying “Request to join this trip“.

Please answer all of the following in the comment box:

• How you will be getting there
• Any prior hiking experience
• When you joined the club
• Your second-favourite colour and why it isn’t your top favourite (so that I know you were paying attention)
