My mate Colin climbing Jack High (19) at Shipley. The track work is along the escarpment right below here.

This coming Sunday, 16th March, will be the next Blue Mountains Crag Care event and I’m organising a group from UNSWOC to lend a hand. The work this weekend will be mostly contributing to the ongoing track work at Shipley and Centennial Glen climbing areas. I was there last weekend and already sections of the track have been improved with nice sandstone steps and small retaining walls. If you haven’t been to this area before it is a very pretty area with views over the Kanimbla Valley from sections of the track that we’ll be working on (it runs along a tier between two large cliff bands and under some of the Mountains’ best sport climbing). The organisers will provide tools, protective equipment and a bbq for lunch so please sign up here to confirm if you can make it – I need to let the organisers know for catering purposes.

The work day usually runs from 8am to 3.30, but if you can only come later or need to leave earlier then that’s ok too. Weather and enthusiasm permitting, we should also be able to squeeze in a few climbs after work so bring your gear!

Hope to see you there,

Rene
