Hey everyone!
Rebekah and I will be heading to Bangor West, about 40 minutes drive south west of UNSW. There are some great climbs around Grade 14-21 and we can take around 8 people 🙂 This is a good opportunity get started with outdoor climbing, no previous experience is required. We’ll teach you everything you need to know on the day!
Note: The trip will go ahead depending on the weather, we’ll make a call closer to the date.
Please bring the following:
- Harness*
- Helmet*
- Climbing shoes*
- Belay device + locking carabiner* (e.g. ATC, GriGri)
- Safety sling + locking carabiner* (if you want to learn to clean a route)
- Chalk, if you have*
*Gear can be borrowed at the Gear Cupboard at UNSW during Gear Night (usually Thursday evening), check Facebook for the latest details. You don’t need to pay for rental, but bring cash for a deposit
And don’t forget:
- Sunscreen/hat
- 2L water (minimum!)
- Food and snacks for the day
- Sporty clothes and comfy shoes
- Warm jumper
- Daypack to fit all of the above inside
Please include in the comments: your favourite sunset spot, and if you’re able to drive, how many spots you have and where you are driving from (to help us sort out carpooling)
