This Saturday, I (Nadav) will be teaching an intermediate session in rigging Abseils. Location to be confirmed but thinking Lindfield Rocks at the moment if nothing closer comes to mind. Time: 2pm to 6pm
I will be teaching releasable rigging for abseils for management of dodgy edges or lowering of stuck abseilers. Plus I’m happy to discuss and show any other canyoning techniques you might be interested in.
I’ll tailor it to the experience of the people who join and this is intended as an intermediate session, but please don’t be shy in signing up as beginners are still welcome. Be sure to write down your experience.
Some abseiling or climbing experience is preferred but not 100% necessary, but you will need (your own!):
- Abseiling gear: A harness*, helmet*, biners*, slings*, Safety*, A Figure 8 device* (or similar descender, if you have an atc I will voice my disdain and move on 😉)
(* = could be borrowed from the club gear cupboard). - For clothing: Sport clothes. It can get quite hot or quite chilly, so be prepared for both.
- For sustenance: 2L of water, food or snacks
- Other gear: Sunscreen, medicines if you need them (asthma puffer, etc), head torch (we’ll probably be out before dark, and the carpark is close but always good to have on you).
