For the UNSWOC Snow Weekend (6-8/09/2019) the NZ crew plans to head to Blue Lake to practice some glacier crossing / self-arrest and rescue skills / ice climbing. The plan is TBD but roughly we will drive up to the snowies on Friday, stay at the house (Werralong Rd, Dalgety, NSW 2628 – 50 min from Cooma, $30 per night pp), and head to Charlotte Pass on Saturday morning to hike to Blue Lake. Around there, we could explore Mt Twynam or set up some top ropes on mixed terrain to give the ice axes some use 😛 Plan is to camp on the snow and hike back on Sunday.
This is an advanced / self-learning trip to train for NZ. If you have your own ice climbing gear, snow and trad experience, and know what you’re doing, shoot me (Maria) a msg if you would like to join us.
