In memory of Angela Ha ❤️ The UNSWOC community is In memory of Angela Ha ❤️

The UNSWOC community is invited to join us at Blackheath Memorial Park on Sunday 31 May for an afternoon picnic to celebrate and remember Angela: a deeply loved member of our community whose joy, enthusiasm and love for the outdoors touched so many of us.

Angela joined the club in 2021, became a dedicated trip leader, and spent 3 years on Exec in Social Media and Events roles. Her stoke was infectious, and she brought warmth, encouragement and adventure to everyone around her. Her passing has left a huge hole in our community, and this picnic is an opportunity for us to come together, share stories, climb, laugh, remember, and celebrate her life.

The club will provide afternoon tea and a slackline, and everyone is encouraged to bring games, frisbees, balls, and picnic snacks. We’d also love to see groups out climbing together in the morning before gathering at the park in the afternoon.

Current and former UNSWOC members are warmly invited. Please sign up so we can organise food numbers.

We are also collecting photos and memories of Ange for a photobook and memorial post for the Ha family. Submissions close 6pm Wednesday 27 May.

Trig mission with a twist 😅 A small group headed Trig mission with a twist 😅

A small group headed out to TS877 Berowra a few weeks ago for a little bit of fire trail cruising before off-track wandering and a surprise chimney climb 👀

Made it to the top for some unreal views over the Hawkesbury and beyond - definitely worth the effort.

Didn’t get to everything we planned though, so I guess that means we’ll be back 😉

Keen for the full story? Check out the new trip report on unswoc.org! 📝🌐

Had an amazing time doing a 3-night hike in the Bu Had an amazing time doing a 3-night hike in the Budawangs 🏕️, visiting some beauties such as the Castle 🏰, Corang Arch and Monolith Valley 🛕.

We got quite wet a couple of times and didn’t exactly make it back to camp before dark on the 3rd day 🌃... But the gorgeous views more than made up for it (Also the drinks stashed at camp helped ease the pain) 😁

To make things more exciting, we chose some interesting (and apparently not so well travelled) routes, which consisted of significantly more bush-bashing 🌳 and rock scrambling 🧗🏼‍♀️ than an actual trail.

Plenty of detours were also taken to satisfy our bouldering cravings and climb every rock in Monolith Valley (wonder why we didn’t make it to camp before dark?!?)

Climbing the Castle was probably the highlight of the trip. We had to use ropes to get up and down, and were greeted with breathtaking views once we summited. 🌄 K2 next!
