Yileen Canyon – Beginner Saturday Canyon

Join Georgie and I for Yileen – a beginner friendly canyon trip. Yileen Canyon is one of the better canyons on the south side of Bells Line of Road. It features several sections of canyon, finishing with an abseil of up to 60m into the Grose Valley. The name comes from an aboriginal word for dream

See below for a list of things you need to bring. If you don’t have all the pieces you will have a fun day exploring the carpark.

Available to borrow from the Club:

• 5mm wetsuit
• Canyoning  harness
• Helmet
• Figure 8 descender and locking carabiner
• Safety sling and locking carabiner
• Backpack (this will get wet)
• Dry bag/Keg
• Emergency blanket (You can buy not borrow)

Other gear you must bring:

• Raincoat
• Thermal top and bottom to wear under wetsuit
• Walking clothes
• Woollen socks (no cotton socks!)
• Old shorts to wear over wetsuit (protects club wetsuits)
• Enclosed shoes with good grip, suitable for water and bushwalking
• Swimmers for under wetsuit
• NO COTTON! (this includes socks, shirts, pants, etc)
• Head torch
• Snacks
• Lunch
• 1.5L water minimum
• Any personal medical supplies (e.g. asthma puffer, epi-pen)
• Dry clothes and a towel for the drive back home

Cars will be needed so if you want to come and have a car your much more likely to get accepted. If you do not receive an acceptance email you have not been accepted, please do not turn up without being accepted onto the trip.
