Hello legends!
Come along with Jason, Sudarshan and myself (Jayden) for a stunning day in Butterbox canyon (first descended by OG UNSWOC).
This is rightly one of the most popular canyons in the mountains, and you have the opportunity to experience the beauty first hand!
It is ideal if you have prior abseiling/canyoning experience, are comfortable scrambling, you must be able to swim, and be comfortable with a full day of proper exercise. I am a keen bean and I hope you are too :))
Packing List:
- Figure Eight or similar style descender *
- Helmet *
- Canyoning Harness *
- Full length wetsuit *
- 3x Locking Carabiners *
- Safety (eg. a 120cm sling) *
- Drybag or keg *
- Canyon pack (or bag that drains well which you are comfortable getting a little battered) *
- Headtorch
- Emergency blanket (can be bought from gear cupboard for $5) *
- Swimmers (for under your wetsuit)
- Thick Wool or wetsuit socks
- Thermals!!
- Raincoat/Rain jacket
- Old shoes with good grip
- 2L water
- Easy to consume lunch + snacks to share (Please no peanuts, I will appreciate peanut free snacks for sharing)
- Hiking clothes (for the walks in and out, ideally long sleeves and pants)
- Dry clothes and a towel (for the car)
- Any medications you require (e.g asthma puffer, epipen)
Gear with a * can be borrowed from the gear cupboard likely on Thursday evening. If you have your own gear please bring it. NO COTTON clothing please, including socks and underwear!
