Howdy Bushwalking-mountain_climbing-hiking-type people, (and anyone who missed leg day),
Alie and I will be leading a hike up the aptly-named Mt Carrialoo in Kangaroo Valley on the Sunday of Boree Log. We shall seek enlightenment through scenery and improved leg muscles.
On Sunday morning we’ll pack up camp and drive to Kangaroo Valley, from whence we shall ascend to the sandstone plateau of Mt Carrialoo. We shall circumnavigate this wondrous natural construction of sheer cliff faces and boulders and suchlike, before returning downwards via King’s Creek. This is not a super-long hike, so we can enjoy exploring the top of the mountain and the creek on the way down. Hungover participants will be accepted.
This walk will involve both fire-trails and off-track bush-bashing, so there’s something for everyone 🙂
YOU WILL NEED:
- Head-torch – We are not planning on needing this, but if you don’t bring one we’ll definitely get stuck in the dark. Just ask Murphy if you don’t believe me.
- Sunscreen– Make sure you bring lots of sunscreen and apply every few hours!
- Water– Water is extremely important. Bring AT LEAST 2L of water. Preferably more as hiking uphill is hot going.
- Lunch– You must provide your OWN lunch.
- Snacks– We’ll be doing a lot of exercise, so make sure you bring lots of snacks to keep your energy levels up! Bring things like nuts, fruit, dried fruit, lollies, biscuits, chocolate, muesli bars, etc. Donations of food to trip leaders are very acceptable 😉
- Appropriate clothes – Appropriate hiking shoes, Hat, light clothes (you will get hot!), a jumper and raincoat in case of bad weather.
- Shoes that can get wet – We plan on walking beside King’s Creek, not in it, but it is best to be prepared.
- First Aid Kit – If you have one.
- MOST IMPORTANTLY – You will need to sign up to the MAIN Boree Log event before you will be accepted for this one.
